More than 300 days of sunshine a year: there is no bad season on the Costa del Sol. But each has its charm. Here's how to choose yours.

With more than 300 days of sunshine a year and mild winters, the Costa del Sol lives up to its name. There is no truly bad season — only different moods. Here's how to choose the moment that suits you.

Spring (March to June), our favourite

The countryside is green, the villages in bloom, the terraces sunny without being scorching. Ideal temperatures for hiking in the Sierra or wandering the lanes, before the summer crowds. In our view, it's the most beautiful time to discover the Axarquía.

Summer (July–August), celebration by the water

Warm sea, ferias, lively nights and espetos on the beach: summer is vibrant. It's hot — so we favour a house with a pool and shade, mornings on the coast and evenings up high, in the cool of the white villages.

Autumn (September–October), gentleness regained

The sea stays warm, the light turns golden, the moscatel grape harvest is in full swing. The beaches empty, prices ease: this is the season for those in the know.

Winter (November to February), the Andalusian secret

While the rest of Europe shivers, here you lunch on a terrace at 18 degrees. Almond trees in blossom from February, peaceful villages, gentle rates: winter on the Costa del Sol is a precious interlude, ideal for a quiet stay.

Whichever season calls to you, we tailor every stay to the weather, the crowds and your wishes. Tell us when you dream of leaving — we'll find the best time and the best place.
